Many, many thanks for the highly informative day at Whitworth Hall. I thoroughly enjoyed being immersed in the wealth of literature which you selected for us (Lucy Blue will resonate for a long time). I learned such a lot from the vast amount of advice on ‘tightening up’ fiction writing – which I’m going to put to good use.
Thanks again for an enjoyable and worth-while day.

It was a wonderful, hammering, hard working day where new insights came thick and fast and the close concentration by the workshoppers definitely paid off as we saw the short stories being strengthened by hard work and the inspiration of these great masters.
The highlight was indeed Gillian reading to us David Almond’s story Lucy Blue which you can also hear on our Writing Game programme on the Short Story on The Writing Came podcast: –
